What vibe coding means at Cold Spring
Beginning in third grade, Cold Spring students use imagi to describe an idea, work with an AI-supported coding environment, test the result, find problems, revise the code, and explain how their creation works. Alongside imagi, students use tools like Suno for original music composition and other creative platforms — always with the student as the author of the idea, the reviser of the work, and the person who can explain what was made and why.
Vibe coding with imagi (Grade 3–6)
Students describe an idea, work with an AI-supported coding environment, test the result, find problems, revise, and explain how their creation works — with the student as the author.
Suno music composition
Students draft, revise, and produce original music, thinking carefully about mood, structure, lyric choice, and audience — using AI as a creative collaborator, not the composer.
Computational thinking
Breaking big problems into small steps, spotting patterns, testing ideas, and iterating — habits that carry into every subject.
Students remain the authors
The goal is not to accept whatever AI produces. Students develop ideas, evaluate results, debug thoughtfully, and are able to explain their own work in their own words.
